“We’re not visiting cotton candy factories”

Anton and Niklas don’t have to think very hard about what their favourite part of the job is: “The best thing is getting to work with the customer to create a whole and solve problems.”

Which is exactly what they’ve done, and more, at the treatment plant in Tranås. As mobile installers at Hydria Water, they install all sizes and designs of machinery.

“But the job doesn’t suit everyone, of course. We’re not visiting cotton candy factories,” says Anton.

Anton and Niklas are sat in the car on their way to their next project on Sweden’s west coast. But this time it’s a little different than usual. The treatment plant they’re going to is completely new.

“It’s often grubby, wet, cold, and dark where we work,” says Niklas, who continues: “But we wouldn’t have it any other way. We want to go down, get the job done, and create a whole. And we were certainly able to do this in Tranås.”

There have been lots of changes to the treatment plant in Tranås during the past year. A lot more than were first thought, actually.

“For us, it started with inspections of all the scrapers. It then became clear that they were completely knackered,” explains Jörgen Edelmalm, service advisor at Hydria Water.

The inspection turned into an order for new scrapers, which then had to be installed. While they were still on site, they took the opportunity to look at some other components, and so it went on…

“We’ve now pretty much rebuilt the entire treatment plant for them, but it was needed. They’re set for the future now, and have a modern facility that will last a long time,” says Jörgen.

For Anton and Niklas, the work in Tranås developed into a really enjoyable partnership. They usually just set the machinery up in its spot, and let others take things from there.

“But in Tranås we got to do everything. It’s much more fun,” says Anton.

“We don’t want to leave somewhere without doing everything we can to make things better, either. This is so much more fun than just setting the machinery up,” says Niklas.

More than a supplier of machinery

The partnership with the Tranås treatment plant is a clear example of how beneficial it can be when Hydria Water is able to combine its technical expertise with its role as a machinery supplier.

“What we quoted for to start with were grills to fit in the channels. But when we went in and started looking, we realised it was completely the wrong installation for this kind of plant. We calculated their flows and actual requirements, and ended up providing the things they actually needed, not just what would fit in the channels,” Jörgen explains.

Another exciting opportunity with this plant in Tranås was being able to install Hydria Water’s new sand washer, Alpha SWA.

“Now that we’re starting to follow things up, we can see just what fantastic results we’re getting,” says Jörgen.
